§ 51.42. CERTAIN PLANTS AND FACILITIES REQUIRED TO USE BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICE.

  • Plants or facilities as listed need backflow prevention device:
    (A) Aircraft and missile plants.
    (B) Automotive plants.
    (C) Auxiliary water systems.
    (D) Beverage bottling plants.
    (E) Breweries.
    (D) Buildings: Hotels, apartment houses, public and private buildings, or any other structures having unprotected cross connections, with the exception of single-family residential structures with existing cross connection. All single-family residential structures that develop cross connection after passage of this subchapter will be subject to this section and those devices will be provided by the city.
    (E) Canneries, packing houses, and reduction plants.
    (F) Car wash facilities.
    (G) Chemical plants: Manufacturing, processing, compounding, or treatment.
    (H) Chemical contaminated water systems.
    (I) Civil works.
    (J) Dairies and cold storage plants.
    (K) Film laboratories.
    (L) Fire systems.
    (M) Hospital, medical buildings, sanitariums, morgues, mortuaries, autopsy facilities, nursing and convalescent homes and clinics.
    (N) Irrigation systems: Premises having separate systems (such as parks, playgrounds, cemeteries, golf courses, schools, estate, ranches, and the like).
    (O) Laundries and dye works.
    (P) Metal manufacturing, cleaning, processing, and fabrication plants.
    (Q) Motion picture studios.
    (R) Multi-storied buildings.
    (S) Multiple services; interconnected.
    (T) Oil and gas production, storage, or transmission properties.
    (U) Paper and paper product plants.
    (V) Plating plants.
    (W) Power plants.
    (X) Radioactive materials or substances; plants or facilities handling.
    (Y) Restricted, classified, or other closed facilities.
    (Z) Rubber plants; natural or synthetic.
    (AA) Sand and gravel plants.
    (BB) Schools and colleges.
    (CC) Sewage and storm drain facilities.
    (DD) Solar heating systems; direct and auxiliary.
    (EE) Waterfront facilities and industries.
